Swannanoa Old-Time Week 2017

I am really excited to be returning as an instructor to the Swannanoa Old-Time Music & Dance Week, July 23-July 29, 2017 – and what a great lineup to be joining: Dan Gellert, John Hermann, Kirk Sutphin, the Canote Brothers, Earl White & Adrienne Davis, Phil Jamison, Don Pedi, Ron Pen, John Hollandsworth, James & Vivian Leva, Gordy Hinners, Meredith McIntosh, Ben Nelson, Ellie Grace, Kari Sickenberger, Dave Keenan, Sheila K Adams, Rodney Sutton, Rafe Stefanini, Clelia Stefanini, Joe Newberry, Erynn Marshall & Carl Jones.

I’ll be teaching a Fiddle III class and Band Lab 101. Pre-registration (which gives you first choice for classes) is open until Feb 12th.

There’ll be lots of great music, instruction, dances, concerts, food, jams and fun, and I hope you can come!

Returning to Steve Kaufman’s Acoustic Kamps in 2017

I’m just tickled to have been asked to return to Steve Kaufman’s Acoustic Kamps for Old Time and Traditional Week next year (June 11- 1). This time I’ll be delightedly taking on the role of Jam Koordinator, heading up several jam sessions each day for Kamp participants. I hope to see some of you there!

PickNBow Old-Time Music Mini-Camp

Danny Gotham has been running the PickNBow Folk Music Retreat weekend for several years now, and I had a wonderful time at it last year, teaching old-time fiddle and banjo. The 2016 PickNBow is only two months away, with the new addition of the Old-Time Music Mini-Camp on Friday, August 26 from 2-5 pm.

My good pal and longtime bandmate (Big Medicine, The Bow Benders) Bobb Head and I will will be teaching sessions on fiddle, banjo, guitar, and bass, and possibly a short band clinic at the Mini-Camp. Whether you’ve been playing old-time music for awhile or are a novice, this will be a fantastic kick-off to the entire Picknbow weekend. If you are interested in the Old-Time Music Mini-Camp, and want more information, contact me. Come for the Mini-Camp, stay for the whole PickNBow weekend!

Back Home

I’m back home with my honey after a fantastic week as a fiddle instructor at Steve Kaufman’s Acoustic Kamp, and feeling inspired by the amazingly talented and accomplished folks on staff there, and by the wonderful group of kampers. Many thanks to Steve for inviting me to be part of it!
